Avondale Islamic Centre Community get-together was held on Sunday 14 December 2014 with the anticipation of building stronger relationships with our neighbourhood community. Neighbourhood families were invited for a sausage sizzle with snacks tea, coffee and juice and most importantly to get to know the local Muslims who pray regularly at the centre.

We have also invited the local community police and fire services, to thank them for the wonderful support in the recent past. The local police have been on hand to help resolve issues and protect the worshippers from harm. If not for the quick action of the Blockhouse bay fire brigade to put out a recent fire at the centre we would be able to enjoy this community get-together.

We were pleased to meet and enjoy the company of our neighbours including regular member of the local Intersection church. Many new networks and bonds were created with hope for the future. Thanks to the Neighbourly website, a neighbourhood watch network the word of our community get-together got around the suburb of Avondale and Blockhouse bay. We sincerely hope the people who braved the rains to attend this event enjoyed themselves and gained valuable friendships.

We thank our parent body, the New Zealand Muslim Association for the organising this event and Mohammed Halal Meats for sponsoring part of the sausages, Phoenix NZ for the soft drinks and most importantly the two lovely people for lending their BBQ machines on the day. Also our appreciation to everyone who helped in the background to make this event a great success.

May Allah reward every one for their sincere effort.
